A perfect conclusion to an envelope-pushing procedural drama. Tim Bayliss and Frank Pembelton's relationship create the backbone of the series and to see them grow and develop as characters was compelling and thought provoking. You'd think a crime drama following a black jesuit whose main personality trait is yelling at a bisexual buddhist would be a little too whacky but it's played to perfection.

Giardello was my favourite character overall and the movie is a beautiful conclusion to his character arc. His is the only dream sequence I've seen that adds to the narrative and doesn't feel like a cop out.

Cure is a hypnotic ride into the horrors of not knowing what the person next to you is capable of. Kurosawa's next work Pulse is here in the prototype: an exploration of how modern life disconnects us from each other and how connection can become both what we crave and what horrifies us.

Reminds me of Haruki Murakami's non-fiction work Underground where he investigates the impact of the 1995 Tokyo Gas Attacks. Gas was released in a tokyo train and, caught up in politeness and trying not to cause a fuss, multiple people simply stood by and succumbed to the gas when they could have saved themselves. In interviews with those connected, many people could not wrap their heads around how a group of people could so calmly organise a mass murder and, even more, how so many people could not react to it.

Half man is a character study of two men, Nial and Ruben, and the game of 'toxic masculinity' that they are both trapped in. Far from being a woke take on how men need to wake up to themselves, Gadd gives us a gritty tale of the destruction that comes from self hate and generations of abuse. Not for the faint of heart, as close to perfect as Baby Reindeer is.

A fun flick! Less of a character study and more of a "hitting the high points" of Michael's life. Apparently they left a lot out of it, including his relationship with Diana Ross. But, as someone with only tangential knowledge of MJ, I got a clearer picture of the context of his life, especially his relationship with his dad.

Not a must watch, but fun for what it's worth.

A fun action movie with a couple of diegetic musical numbers and some dizzying stunt of aerial prowess. Also, I know people make fun of it for being gay, but oh my lord. I won't say it's actually gay, but there was some homoerotic tension in there that was something else.

A fun time, glad I finally got to see it.
